HISTORY

In the 1970s, Mike Terkuc, along with his son Vic, started Star Quality Homes and began building in Richmond and North Gower. When Mike retired in the 1980s, Vic created Shellstar Holdings Limited. Continuing to build in North Gower, he also branched out and established Amberway, a subdivision in Stittsville.

After completing Amberway, Vic purchased 16 lots off Fernbank Road and his son, Tristan Terkuc, became the third generation to join the family company in the 1990s. Working together, they took Shellstar in a new direction.

The popularity of Shellstar’s unique building plans, hands-on management style, and high quality construction led to all the lots selling quickly, and Shellstar’s momentum continued to grow. After establishing the subdivision of Forest Creek in Stittsville, Shellstar began to develop Granite Ridge. In 2002, Tristan took over the company and, with his vision of incorporating custom luxury touches on houses on city-sized lots combined with Shellstar’s unwavering commitment to customer service, Granite Ridge was a huge success.

This launched Shellstar into estate lots. Our first estate lot in Arbourbrook Estates sold before it was finished. This success was followed with 16 more lots in Arbourbrook Estates, and Shellstar continued to fine-tune its custom home process.

Building on the success of the Arbourbrook communities, Shellstar purchased 34 lots in West Lake Estates. This inviting community offered space, natural beauty, and luxury for homeowners who wanted to experience country living, without leaving behind the convenience of the city.

Continuing to build on its successful estate lot communities, Shellstar purchased a third of Ridgeside Farm. This beautiful and established community in Kanata North is surrounded by picturesque landscapes with quick and easy access to the city.
